Quick answer
Go to your own profile and look under Options. On a computer: profile photo (top right) > your name > Options below your cover photo > Turn on pro mode > Turn on. On Android: Menu (top left) > Options above your photo > Turn on pro mode > Turn on. On iPhone it’s Menu (top left) > your name first; on iPad, Menu is at the bottom right. If the option says Turn off pro mode, it’s already on. Not there at all? A locked profile can’t use pro mode: unlock it first.
Does this match what you see?
- You can’t find professional mode or pro mode anywhere.
- Your profile Options don’t show Turn on pro mode.
- You see Turn off pro mode instead of Turn on.
- Facebook says pro mode isn’t available because your profile is locked.
- You turned pro mode off and lost followers or insights.

Steps come from Meta’s help page for each device, including iPad, Facebook Lite and mobile browsers. The update and report tips in Fix 5 are our own general advice.
Why this happens: the possible causes
Start with the line that matches what you see.
| What you see | Possible cause | Do this |
|---|---|---|
| Can’t find pro mode | Meta’s steps start from Options on your profile | Turn on pro mode |
| Options shows Turn off pro mode | Pro mode is already on | It’s already on |
| A message about a locked profile | Pro mode isn’t available while your profile is locked | Unlock first |
| You’re managing a Page | Pro mode is for your personal profile | Switch to your profile |
| Still no option on any device | An outdated app, or a problem on Facebook’s side | Update and report |
- Looking in the wrong placePossible
Meta’s steps put Turn on pro mode under Options on your own profile (below your cover photo on a computer, above your photo in the apps).
- Pro mode is already onPossible
When it’s on, the same menu shows Turn off pro mode instead.
- Your profile is lockedPossible
Facebook shows that pro mode isn’t available while your profile is locked, and Meta says you can’t lock your profile while pro mode is on.
- You’re on a Page, not your profilePossible
Meta describes pro mode as tools added to your Facebook profile, and its steps start from your profile.
Try these 60-second checks first
- Open your own profile, not your Feed or Settings.
- Look for Options near your cover photo or profile photo.
- If it says Turn off pro mode, it’s already on.
- Locked your profile? Pro mode isn’t available until you unlock it.
How to fix it, step by step
Work through these in order. They start with the quickest, safest checks and only move to steps that sign you out or remove data later.

- Fix 2: Seeing “Turn off pro mode”? It’s already on
- Fix 3: Profile locked? Unlock it before turning on pro mode

Fix 1: Turn on pro mode from Options on your profile
Meta’s steps put pro mode under Options on your profile on every device. It adds professional tools to your existing profile: you don’t create a new one, and your friends and profile content stay the same.
iPhone & iPad
- Tap Menu in the top left of Facebook, then tap your name. (On an iPad, Menu is at the bottom right.)
- Tap Options above your photo.
- Select Turn on pro mode.
- Tap Turn on.
Android
- Tap Menu in the top left of Facebook.
- Tap Options above your photo.
- Select Turn on pro mode.
- Tap Turn on.
Computer (browser)
- Click your profile photo in the top right corner of Facebook, then click your name.
- Click Options below your cover photo.
- Click Turn on pro mode.
- Click Turn on.
In Facebook Lite, tap Menu in the top right, then Options above your photo > Turn on pro mode > Turn on. In a mobile browser, tap Menu in the top right, then your name > Options > Turn on pro mode > Turn on. Meta says you can turn pro mode on or off at any time.
Did it work? Options now shows Turn off pro mode, which means pro mode is on.
Did Fix 1 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 1. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 2: Seeing “Turn off pro mode”? It’s already on
Meta’s steps show the same Options menu offers Turn off pro mode when it’s on. Don’t tap it unless you mean to: turning it off removes your insights and followers who aren’t friends.
- Leave the setting as it is if you want to keep pro mode.
- To see what pro mode changed, read what changes when you turn it on.
- Looking for monetization? Pro mode alone doesn’t make you eligible: see Facebook monetization not eligible.
Did it work? You know pro mode is on and haven’t turned it off by mistake.
Did Fix 2 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 2. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 3: Profile locked? Unlock it before turning on pro mode
Profile lock and pro mode don’t work together. Meta says you can’t lock your profile while pro mode is on, and in the Android app, Profile settings shows “Pro mode is not available when you’ve locked your profile.”
- Decide whether you need pro mode more than a locked profile. Meta says that when you unlock, posts that were Public before you locked go back to Public, and changes you made while locked stay as you set them.
- Unlock your profile: see how to unlock your Facebook profile.
- Go back to Fix 1 and turn on pro mode.
Meta says that if you lost your public followers when you locked your profile, unlocking and turning on pro mode within 60 days of locking gets them back.
Did it work? You can turn on pro mode from Options.
Did Fix 3 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 3. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 4: Using a Page? Switch back to your profile
Meta describes pro mode as professional tools added to your Facebook profile, and its steps start from your own profile. If you’ve switched into a Page, our advice is to switch back first.
- Switch back to your personal profile (on a computer: profile photo > See all profiles > your name).
- Follow Fix 1 from your profile.
Did it work? You’re on your own profile and can see Options.
Did Fix 4 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 4. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 5: Still missing? Update the app, try a computer, then report it
Meta’s steps are the same idea on every device, so if the option is missing in one place, checking another device helps show whether the problem is your app or your account. (This is our own troubleshooting advice.)
- Update Facebook from the App Store or Google Play, then close and reopen it.
- Try the computer steps in Fix 1 in a web browser.
- Still not there? Clear Facebook’s cache and check again.
- Report it from inside Facebook. On a computer: your profile picture (top right) > Help & support > Report a problem.
Did it work? You’ve found the option on one device, or reported the problem.
Did Fix 5 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 5. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 6: Turning pro mode off: steps and what you’ll lose
You can turn pro mode off at any time, but Meta lists real losses: your followers who aren’t friends, your insights, Moderation Assist, discovery, future payouts and content protection. Read what changes first.

- Tap Menu in the top left, then your name (on an iPad, Menu is at the bottom right).

Did Fix 6 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 6. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
What changes when you turn pro mode on or off
Meta says your current friends and profile content don’t change either way. Here’s what does:
| Pro mode on | Pro mode off | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can follow me | Set to Public (you can change it) | Changes to Friends; you lose followers who aren’t friends |
| Insights | Content and audience insights | Existing insights no longer available |
| Safety tools | Enhanced features such as Moderation Assist (external site, opens in a new tab) | No Moderation Assist |
| Discovery | Content becomes eligible for discovery on Facebook | No longer eligible |
| Monetization | If eligible, access to monetization products (external site, opens in a new tab) | Pending payouts or bonuses are paid; future ones are paused |
| Content protection | — | If it was on, protection is removed from all your content, including content with an ownership issue |
