Quick answer
No badge yet? Your application may still be in review: check your status under Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Verified. Badge still showing after canceling? Restart the app. Can’t edit your name? Check it meets Meta’s naming standards, that you haven’t hit the limit on profile changes, and that no other update is in review (up to 3 days). Can’t reach support? You need an active subscription with completed verification, the right account, and a supported platform (chat works on mobile only).

Why this happens: the possible causes
Start with the line that matches what you see.
| What you see | Possible cause | Do this |
|---|---|---|
| No badge yet | Application still in review | Check your status |
| Badge still there after canceling | The app hasn’t refreshed, or the billing cycle hasn’t ended | Restart the app or see when it ends |
| Name change won’t save | Naming standards, change limit or a pending update | Profile editing |
| Can’t add a profile | Eligibility, a pending update, the two-profile limit or a failed payment | Updating profiles |
| Can’t change your plan | Wrong device or platform, a pending change, or a recent downgrade | Changing plans |
| Can’t reach support | Inactive subscription, wrong account or unsupported platform | Contact support |
- Your application is still in reviewPossible
Meta says the badge appears after your application is reviewed and approved. Its subscription page says it sends an update within 3 business days.
- Profile change limits or pending updatesPossible
Meta says to check you haven’t exceeded the number of times you can update your profile info, and that no updates are already in review (up to 3 days).
- Support needs an active, completed subscriptionPossible
Meta says to make sure you completed verification, have an active subscription, are in the correct account and on a supported platform.
Try these 60-second checks first
- Open Meta Account > Meta Verified to check your status.
- Make sure you’re logged into the verified account.
- Restart the Facebook app.
- Wait up to 3 days if an update is in review.
How to fix it, step by step
Work through these in order. They start with the quickest, safest checks and only move to steps that sign you out or remove data later.
- Fix 1: Badge not showing? Check your verification status
- Fix 2: Badge still showing after canceling? Restart the app
- Fix 3: Can’t change your name or profile info? Three checks
- Fix 4: Can’t add or remove a profile? Check these four things

- Fix 6: Opened a case? Keep it from closing
- Fix 7: Can’t change your plan? Use your phone, on the platform you paid on
- Fix 8: Payment failed? Update your payment method where you paid
- Fix 9: Subscription revoked or canceled unexpectedly? Meta’s reasons
Fix 1: Badge not showing? Check your verification status
Meta says that if your badge isn’t showing, your application may still be in review. Once it’s approved, your selected profiles are verified and you get the badge and other benefits.
iPhone & iPad
- In the Facebook app, log into your verified profile.
- Tap Menu (top left) > Settings & privacy > Settings.
- Tap Meta Account, then Meta Verified, and check your status.
Android
- In the Facebook app, log into your verified profile.
- Tap Menu (top left) > Settings & privacy > Settings.
- Tap Meta Account, then Meta Verified, and check your status.
Computer (browser)
- Click your profile picture (top right) > Settings & privacy > Settings.
- Click Meta Account in the left menu, then Meta Verified, and check your status.
Meta says it sends an update on your verification status within 3 business days of you submitting everything. If you never finished the steps (two-factor, name and picture, ID), see how to get Meta Verified: Meta cancels subscriptions that aren’t completed within 3 days.
Did it work? Your status shows as verified and the badge appears.

Fix 2: Badge still showing after canceling? Restart the app
Meta’s tip for a badge that still appears after canceling is to restart your app. Also remember that, unless you canceled your benefits immediately, Meta keeps the subscription active until the end of the billing cycle.
- Close the Facebook app completely and open it again.
- Check your payment history to see when your billing cycle renews: on a computer, Settings & privacy > Settings > Accounts Center > Meta Pay (or in Apple or Google Play if you paid there).
- Want it gone now? See cancel your benefits immediately.
Did it work? The badge disappears after the app restarts, or you know when the cycle ends.
Did Fix 2 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 2. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 3: Can’t change your name or profile info? Three checks
Meta’s troubleshooting for verified profile edits comes down to three checks. It also says that changing your name or picture after you’re verified may mean verifying again.
- Make sure your new name follows Meta’s Meta Verified naming standards (external site, opens in a new tab).
- Check you haven’t exceeded the number of times you can update your profile info (external site, opens in a new tab).
- Check you don’t already have a profile update in review. Meta says this can take up to 3 days.
While a new application is in review, Meta says you may not be able to update your profile name, username, category, location or date of birth. For general name rules, see change your Facebook name.
Did it work? Your change is accepted, or you know when you can try again.
Did Fix 3 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 3. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 4: Can’t add or remove a profile? Check these four things
Meta lists four checks when you have trouble updating the profiles in your subscription.
- The profile you’re adding meets Meta’s eligibility requirements.
- Your profile update isn’t already in review (up to 3 days).
- You don’t already have the maximum number of profiles in one subscription (Meta allows up to two: one Facebook and one Instagram, in the same Meta Account).
- Your payment for the update went through.
Steps to add a second profile are in how to get Meta Verified.
Did it work? The profile shows in your subscription.
Did Fix 4 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 4. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 5: Contacting Meta Verified support: where it is and why it may not work
Meta says enhanced support is only for active subscriptions, and only after you’ve completed verification. On Facebook, support is only in the mobile app, not on a computer, and may not be available in mobile browsers.
- In the Facebook app, log into your verified profile and tap Menu (top left).
- Tap Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Verified.
- Scroll down and tap Get support, then Contact support.
- Choose chat, email or request a call (depending on your plan and issue), and follow the instructions. Add as much detail as you can, with screenshots or a video of the problem.
Can’t get through? Meta’s checklist: your subscription is active and verification is complete; you’re in the correct verified profile; your plan includes the type of support you want (chat and 24/7 email are on all plans; phone calls on Premium and Max); you’re in the app, not a computer or mobile browser; the app is updated; and try clearing the app’s data and restarting it (how). If you hit a technical error, report a bug (external site, opens in a new tab). If you’ve canceled, Meta says open cases close when the billing cycle ends.
Did it work? You can open a chat, send an email or request a call.
Did Fix 5 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 5. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 6: Opened a case? Keep it from closing
Meta gives every support case a case ID number and closes cases automatically if you don’t reply in time.
- Note your case ID and use it in any follow-up.
- Check the case status (such as Received, In Progress or Completed) on your Meta Verified support screen, logged into the correct verified profile.
- Reply to the agent within 7 days. Meta says cases with no reply in 7 days close automatically and can’t be re-opened: you’d need to start a new case.
- You can only have one active chat at a time. Close your current chat before starting another.
Meta says support covers subscription management; payments, billing and refunds; verification status; profile access or security; and profile editing and review. Chat, email and phone support are offered in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai and Turkish. Email is available 24/7; chat and phone hours vary by language and region.
Did it work? Your case stays open until it’s resolved.
Did Fix 6 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 6. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 7: Can’t change your plan? Use your phone, on the platform you paid on
Meta says plan changes only work on a mobile device, on the same platform and device type where you bought the subscription (for example, bought on Facebook on an iPhone means changing on Facebook on an iPhone). The feature is still rolling out, so it may not be available to everyone yet.
- In the Facebook app, log into your verified account and tap Menu (top left).
- Tap Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Verified.
- Tap Manage subscription, then Explore other plans.
- Tap the button at the bottom of the screen to upgrade or downgrade, review the details, tap Continue, and follow the payment instructions (on some devices you then tap Subscribe).
Still can’t change it? Meta’s checklist: you need an active monthly subscription; no plan change can already be pending (they typically take effect within 24 hours); your payment method mustn’t have failed or been declined; and if you’ve already downgraded this billing cycle, you need to wait for the next one. Upgrades typically take effect within 24 hours of payment; downgrades start at your next billing cycle, and you keep your current benefits until then. Neither needs another review, and your verified profiles stay the same.
Did it work? Your new plan shows under Meta Verified, or the change is pending.
Did Fix 7 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 7. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 8: Payment failed? Update your payment method where you paid
Meta says you must have at least one payment method on file to keep your subscription active, and where you update it depends on where you bought the subscription.
- Bought on Facebook directly? On a computer: profile picture (top right) > Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Pay, then turn on the toggle next to the card you want as your default.
- Bought through Apple? Update it through Apple: see Apple’s steps (external site, opens in a new tab).
- Bought through Google? Update it through Google Play: see Google’s steps (external site, opens in a new tab).
Meta says changes to your default payment method take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. It recommends adding a backup payment method, which it charges if your default fails. Without a backup, Meta says you may get a short grace period to fix a failed payment before your subscription is canceled, so act quickly. If you bought directly through Meta, Meta accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit and debit cards. Apple and Google have their own lists (Apple (external site, opens in a new tab), Google Play (external site, opens in a new tab)). See Meta’s payment troubleshooting (external site, opens in a new tab) if a charge still fails.
Did it work? Your chosen card shows as the default under Meta Pay, or in Apple or Google Play.
Did Fix 8 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 8. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 9: Subscription revoked or canceled unexpectedly? Meta’s reasons
Meta says that when a subscription is revoked, you lose all benefits immediately, including support and open cases. That’s different from canceling, where benefits usually last until the end of the billing cycle. Meta says it tries to tell you by email and in-app notification.
- Payment failed with no backup card: Meta cancels the subscription. Add a backup payment method next time: see Fix 8.
- Verification didn’t pass review after your first payment: Meta cancels it, and you’re eligible for a refund (refunds).
- A profile update wasn’t approved because it broke Meta’s policies: your subscription may be revoked.
- Policy violations: if your verified account breaks Meta’s terms or Community Standards, the subscription is revoked.
- You deleted the verified account: the subscription is canceled.
- You removed a profile from a two-profile bundle: Meta revokes the subscription after 7 days or at the end of the billing cycle, whichever comes first, unless you re-subscribe that profile to the same bundle within that time.
- You’re no longer eligible, for example you moved somewhere Meta Verified isn’t available: the subscription is canceled.
- You changed it directly in the App Store or Google Play (for example, changing your plan there): your subscription may be revoked. Manage it in Facebook instead.
Want to re-apply? Meta suggests making sure you meet the eligibility requirements and follow its policies, and fixing anything in your account or payments first. Hacked and lost access? Use Meta’s steps to secure a hacked account (external site, opens in a new tab) and our Facebook hacked account recovery guide. Meta says subscriptions revoked for a terms violation, false information, lost eligibility or integrity concerns aren’t refunded.
Did it work? You know why the subscription ended, or your account is secured.
Did Fix 9 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 9. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
