How to Cancel Meta Verified on Facebook (and Stop Being Charged)

Meta Verified renews automatically until you cancel, and where you cancel depends on where you signed up: directly with Meta, through Apple, or through Google Play. Try to cancel in the wrong place and you may not be able to cancel at all. Here’s how to cancel in each case, what happens to your badge and support, and what to do if you were charged again.

Quick answer

Cancel where you bought it. Bought directly through Meta: on a computer, profile picture > Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Verified > Manage subscription > Cancel subscription; in the Facebook app, Menu > Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Verified > Start cancel process > Cancel Meta Verified > OK. Through Apple: cancel in your iPhone’s Settings > your name > Subscriptions. Through Google: cancel in Google Play using the same Google account. Meta says to cancel at least 24 hours before your next payment date. Your benefits last until the end of the billing cycle, and Meta doesn’t offer credits or partial refunds for cancellations. Deleting the app or signing out doesn’t cancel.

Does this match what you see?

  • You can’t find where to cancel Meta Verified.
  • The subscription isn’t listed where you’re looking.
  • You were charged again after canceling.
  • Your badge is still there after canceling.
  • Your subscription ended without you canceling.

This guide covers Meta Verified for creators on Facebook. Meta Verified for businesses has its own Help Center. Meta is gradually moving people to Meta Accounts, so you may see Accounts Center instead of Meta Account. Apple and Google steps come from their own help pages.

Why this happens: the possible causes

Start with the line that matches what you see.

Meta Verified cancellation problems and what to do

  • Canceling in the wrong placePossible

Meta says where you purchased Meta Verified decides where you can cancel, because the subscription is tied to the platform, device type and account you used.

  • Canceling too close to the payment datePossible

Meta says to cancel at least 24 hours before your next payment date to avoid another charge.

  • Signed into a different accountPossible

Meta says you won’t see the subscription if you’re signed into a different Apple or Google account from the one you paid with.

Try these 60-second checks first

  • Check how you paid: directly with Meta, Apple or Google Play.
  • Make sure you’re logged into the verified Facebook account.
  • For Apple or Google, use the same account you paid with.
  • Cancel at least 24 hours before your next payment date.

Not sure you want to cancel? You can change it instead

Meta lets active subscribers manage the subscription without canceling. Open it in the Facebook app with Menu (top left) > Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Verified, or on a computer with profile picture > Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account (in the left menu) > Meta Verified. From there, according to Meta, you can:

  • Check your verification status, verified profiles and benefits.
  • View your payment history (amount, date and status) or update your payment method (how).
  • Change your plan, if you meet the eligibility requirements. Meta says this may change your billing amount, payment schedule and benefits, and it only works in the phone app: see changing your plan.
  • Add or remove a profile, so only the profiles you want keep verified status.

What to know before you cancel

  • It isn’t immediate. Meta says your subscription stays active until your current billing cycle ends.
  • No credits or partial refunds. Meta says it doesn’t offer credits or partial refunds for canceled subscriptions. It adds that eligibility may vary by region because of local laws. Refunds are for verification that wasn’t completed within 3 days or couldn’t confirm your identity (eligibility may vary by region because of local laws): see Fix 6.
  • Support ends too. At the end of the billing cycle you lose all benefits, including support and any open cases.
  • Every profile loses verification. If you verified two profiles, both lose Meta Verified status. To remove just one, or to update your profile, Meta says you can manage your subscription instead of canceling.

How to fix it, step by step

Work through these in order. They start with the quickest, safest checks and only move to steps that sign you out or remove data later.

Fix 1: Find out where you signed up

Safe & reversible2 miniPhone & iPadAndroidComputer (browser)

Meta says your subscription is tied to the platform, device type and account you used to subscribe, so that’s where you cancel.

  1. Bought directly through Meta? Meta says you can cancel on Facebook or Instagram using a computer. Its page also lists steps in the Facebook app: see Fix 2.
  2. Bought through Apple? You need to cancel through Apple: see Fix 3.
  3. Bought through Google? You need to cancel through Google Play. Meta’s example: if you subscribed on Facebook on an Android device through Google Play, use an Android device and the same Google account.
  4. Not sure? Search your email for a receipt. Apple suggests searching for “receipt from Apple” or “invoice from Apple”.

Did it work? You know whether Meta, Apple or Google bills you.

Fix 2: Cancel on Facebook (bought through Meta)

Changes billing3 miniPhone & iPadAndroidComputer (browser)

These are Meta’s steps on Facebook. Your subscription stays active until the end of your billing cycle, then you lose all Meta Verified benefits.

iPhone & iPad

  1. In the Facebook app, log into your verified account.
  2. Tap Menu in the top left.
  3. Tap Settings & privacy, then Settings.
  4. Tap Meta Account, then Meta Verified.
  5. Tap Start cancel process, then Cancel Meta Verified.
  6. Tap OK to confirm.

Android

Computer (browser)

  1. On a computer, log into Facebook.
  2. Click your profile picture in the top right.
  3. Click Settings & privacy, then Settings.
  4. Click Meta Account, then Meta Verified.
  5. Click Manage subscription, then Cancel subscription.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If you bought it on Facebook through Google, Meta says Google’s policies only let you cancel in the Google Play Store (Fix 3). Subscribed on Instagram? In the Instagram app: profile > Menu > Meta Account > Meta Verified. The Instagram computer steps are different: see Meta’s cancellation page (external site, opens in a new tab). Meta says you’ll get a notification confirming the cancellation.

Did it work? You get a notification confirming the cancellation.

Fix 3: Paid through Apple or Google Play? Cancel there

Changes billing3 miniPhone & iPadAndroid

Meta says Apple purchases must be canceled through Apple, and Google purchases through Google Play, signed into the same account you paid with.

iPhone & iPad

  1. Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap the Meta Verified subscription.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription (you may need to scroll down). If there’s no cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red, Apple says it’s already canceled.

Android

  1. Open your subscriptions in Google Play (Google’s direct link: play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions), signed into the Google account that holds the subscription.
  2. Select the Meta Verified subscription.
  3. Tap Cancel subscription.
  4. Complete the on-screen prompts.

Steps from Apple Support (external site, opens in a new tab) and Google Play Help (external site, opens in a new tab). Google says uninstalling the app won’t cancel your subscription.

Did it work? The subscription shows as canceled or with an end date.

Fix 4: Can’t find your subscription? Check the account

Safe & reversible3 miniPhone & iPadAndroidComputer (browser)

Meta’s tip: make sure you’re logged into the correct verified account. If you’re canceling through Apple or Google, you must be signed into the same Apple or Google account you used to buy it, or you won’t see the subscription.

  1. On Facebook, check you’re in the verified account (switch accounts if you have more than one).
  2. On Google Play, Google suggests switching accounts if you can’t find a subscription: it may be under a different account.
  3. On Apple, check which Apple Account is on the receipt. Apple says that if it’s a family member’s account, that person needs to cancel.
  4. Still nothing? Check your bank or card statement to see who bills you, and see Fix 1.

Did it work? You can see the subscription and cancel it.

Fix 5: Charged after canceling? Check the 24-hour rule

Safe & reversible2 miniPhone & iPadAndroidComputer (browser)

Meta says you need to cancel at least 24 hours before your next payment date to avoid being charged for another billing cycle. It also says it doesn’t offer credits or partial refunds for canceled subscriptions.

  1. Check your payment history (amount, date and status). Bought on Facebook on a computer: profile picture (top right) > Settings & privacy > Settings > Accounts Center > Meta Pay. Bought through Apple: in the App Store, tap your photo or initials > Apps & Purchase History > Purchase History (Apple’s steps (external site, opens in a new tab)). Apple notes that grouped billing or a family member can explain unfamiliar charges. Bought through Google: go to payments.google.com and click Activity (or Subscriptions & services > Manage) (Google’s steps (external site, opens in a new tab)). Use the same account you paid with.
  2. Check the date you canceled against your payment date. Meta says you’re charged on the same date each month as your original purchase (for example, the 24th of every month).
  3. Make sure the cancellation actually went through: look for Meta’s confirmation notification, or the canceled status in Apple or Google Play.
  4. Paid through Apple or Google Play? Charges and billing for those subscriptions go through Apple or Google. Meta also has a separate page on troubleshooting Meta Verified payment issues, linked from its cancellation page (external site, opens in a new tab).
  5. Questions about a charge? Meta says Meta Verified support can help with payments and subscription management: see Fix 7.

Did it work? You know why you were charged and that no further charges are due.

Fix 6: Can you get a refund? Meta’s rules and how to ask

Changes billing5 miniPhone & iPadAndroidComputer (browser)

Meta says refunds are only available in two cases: you didn’t complete verification within 3 days of starting, or Meta couldn’t verify your identity. Canceling after you were approved, canceling mid-cycle or canceling benefits immediately doesn’t qualify. Meta adds that refund eligibility may vary by region because of local laws.

  1. Bought directly on Facebook or Instagram on a computer? Meta says an eligible refund is processed automatically. If you need to request one on Facebook: on a computer, click Menu (top right) > Orders and payments, click the Meta Verified payment, select Get help with this payment, then Request a refund and follow the instructions. (Bought on Instagram? Meta’s route there starts from More > Settings > Creator subscriptions.)
  2. Bought through Apple? Request it through Apple. Apple’s steps: sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com, choose I’d like to > Request a refund, pick a reason, then select the subscription and Submit (Apple Support (external site, opens in a new tab)). Apple says to expect an update within about 24 to 48 hours, and that you can’t request a refund for a pending charge until you’ve had the email receipt.
  3. Bought through Google? Request it through Google Play. Google’s steps: on play.google.com, profile picture > Payments & subscriptions > Budget & order history, find the order, click Report a problem and ask for a refund (Google Play Help (external site, opens in a new tab)). If you think a charge was unauthorized, Google says to report it within 120 days (Google’s refund policies (external site, opens in a new tab)).

Meta says refunds go back to the original payment method and can take several business days, or up to 60 days, depending on your bank or payment provider (Meta says this is especially common for App Store purchases). Not seeing it? Check the right card or account, and whether the original payment was still pending or failed. Meta also says it gives no refund if your account broke its terms, you gave false information, or your subscription was revoked.

Did it work? Your refund request is submitted, or you know you’re not eligible.

Fix 7: Still stuck? Report a bug or contact Meta Verified support

Safe & reversible5 miniPhone & iPadAndroidComputer (browser)

Meta says to report a bug if you hit a technical problem, and to contact Meta Verified support if you still can’t cancel. Support gives subscribers human agents by chat and email (and, on some plans, phone support and case monitoring) for subscription management, payments and profile access.

  1. Report a technical problem: on a computer, your profile picture (top right) > Help & support > Report a problem.
  2. Contact Meta Verified support while your subscription is still active: see Meta’s page on contacting Meta Verified support (external site, opens in a new tab). Meta says chat support only works on mobile devices, not on a computer.

Meta says support, and any open cases, end when your billing cycle ends (or right away if you cancel benefits immediately), so contact support before that happens.

Did it work? Your report or support request is sent.

What happens after you cancel

Meta says you’ll get a notification confirming the cancellation, and your subscription stays active until the end of the billing cycle. After that you lose your badge and all benefits, including support. If you change your mind, you can subscribe again.

Remove the badge and benefits right away

You can also cancel your benefits immediately instead of waiting. Meta warns this removes your verified badge and all other benefits, including support, right away; open conversations or cases with support disappear; and you won’t be refunded for the rest of the billing cycle, unless the law where you live requires it.

  • Facebook app: Menu (top left) > Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Verified > the verified profile > View all benefits > Cancel benefits.
  • Computer: profile picture (top right) > Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Verified > the verified profile > View all benefits > Cancel benefits.

Your subscription ended without you canceling

Meta says a subscription that was canceled unexpectedly may have been revoked, and that revocation removes all benefits immediately. Common reasons include a failed payment with no backup card, policy violations, no longer being eligible and changes made directly in the App Store or Google Play: see all of Meta’s reasons. It says certain activity may lead it to revoke a subscription because of integrity concerns and fraud risk, and that false or misleading information during verification can lead it to remove verified status. See Meta’s Meta Verified help (external site, opens in a new tab).

How to know it worked

  • You received Meta’s cancellation notification, or Apple or Google shows the subscription as canceled.
  • No new charge appears after your current billing cycle.

Still not working? Your next steps

  1. Lost access to the verified account itself? See Facebook hacked account recovery.
  2. Someone messaging you to “verify” or “fix” your account for a fee? Meta Verified is managed in your own Facebook or Instagram settings (Meta Account > Meta Verified). Read Facebook recovery scams before you pay anyone.

Frequently asked questions

When does Meta Verified charge me each month?

Meta says you’re charged on the same date as your original purchase every month until you cancel. If that date doesn’t exist in a month (such as the 31st), Meta’s billing page says you’re charged on the last day of the following month instead.

How long does a Meta Verified refund take?

Meta says refunds go back to your original payment method and can take several business days, or up to 60 days depending on your bank or payment provider.

How do I cancel Meta Verified on Facebook?

If you bought it through Meta: on a computer, profile picture > Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Verified > Manage subscription > Cancel subscription. In the Facebook app, Menu > Settings & privacy > Settings > Meta Account > Meta Verified > Start cancel process > Cancel Meta Verified > OK. If you paid through Apple or Google Play, cancel there instead.

Will I get a refund if I cancel Meta Verified?

Only in two cases. Meta says refunds are available if you didn’t complete verification within 3 days of starting, or it couldn’t verify your identity, and it doesn’t offer credits or partial refunds for canceled subscriptions. If you cancel your benefits immediately, it says you won’t be refunded for the rest of the billing cycle unless the law where you live requires it.

Why was I charged after canceling Meta Verified?

Meta says you need to cancel at least 24 hours before your next payment date to avoid another charge.

Does deleting Facebook cancel Meta Verified?

No. Meta says signing out or deleting the Facebook or Instagram app won’t cancel your subscription.

When does my blue badge disappear after canceling?

At the end of your current billing cycle, unless you choose to cancel your benefits immediately, which removes the badge right away.
