Quick answer
Cancel: iPhone, in the App Store subscriptions; Android, in Google Play subscriptions; web, at Snapchat’s accounts portal (My Subscription). Refund: ask Apple or Google if you paid through them. On the web, the US has no refunds for unused time, while the EU and UK give a pro-rated refund if you cancel within 14 days of being charged. On iPhone, cancel a free trial at least 24 hours before it ends.
Does this match what you see?
- You can’t find where to cancel Snapchat+.
- You were charged after a free trial.
- Restore Purchases says “Restore Failed”.
- You subscribed but Snapchat+ features aren’t there.
iPhone & iPadAndroidComputer (browser)
Based on Snapchat Support’s Snapchat+ articles supplied by the site owner. Prices vary by country and device; Snapchat says the price shown in your app (Settings > Snapchat+) is what you’ll pay.
Why this happens: the possible causes
Where you subscribed decides who handles it.
| Subscribed via | Cancel | Refund |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone (App Store) | App Store subscriptions | Apple |
| Android (Google Play) | Google Play subscriptions | |
| Web (snapchat.com/plus) | Accounts portal > My Subscription | Depends on region (details) |
| Verizon +play or MySTC | Our note: contact the partner | Verizon or STC |
- You’re looking in Snapchat instead of where you paidCheck this first
Snapchat says cancelling depends on how you signed up: the App Store, Google Play or its web accounts portal.
- You’re logged into a different Snapchat accountCheck this first
Snapchat says Restore Failed means no purchases were found for that Snapchat account.
Try these 60-second checks first
- Our tip: check which Snapchat account you’re logged into.
- Our tip: check your email receipt to see whether you paid Apple, Google or Snapchat.
How to fix it, step by step
Work through these in order. They start with the quickest, safest checks and only move to steps that sign you out or remove data later.
Fix 1: Cancel Snapchat+ or Memories+
Snapchat says the steps depend on how you signed up.
iPhone & iPad
- Cancel through the App Store (Apple’s steps (external site, opens in a new tab)): find Snapchat+ under your active subscriptions.
Android
- Cancel through the Google Play Store (Google’s steps (external site, opens in a new tab)): find Snapchat+ under your active subscriptions.
Computer (browser)
- Cancel in Snapchat’s accounts portal (external site, opens in a new tab), or sign in at snapchat.com > Accounts > My Subscription.
- Snapchat says if you subscribed on the web and tap Manage in Snapchat, it takes you to that web subscription page.
When access ends: for US web subscriptions, Snapchat says cancelling stops renewal and you keep Snapchat+ until the end of the period you paid for. For EU and UK web subscriptions cancelled within the first 14 days, you get a pro-rated refund and lose access straight away.
Did it work? Snapchat+ no longer shows as an active subscription where you paid.
Did Fix 1 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 1. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 2: Request a refund
Snapchat says refunds are handled by whoever you bought the subscription from.
iPhone & iPad
- Ask Apple: sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com, tap I’d like to > Request a refund, choose a reason, tap Next, select the purchase and Submit (Apple Support (external site, opens in a new tab)). Snapchat says its support team can’t help with App Store refunds.
Android
- Ask Google with Google Play’s refund request (external site, opens in a new tab). Snapchat says its support team can’t help with Google Play refunds.
Computer (browser)
- US: Snapchat says it doesn’t refund the unused part of a month or year; cancelling stops renewal.
- EU and UK: cancel within the first 14 days after being charged for a pro-rated refund within 7–10 business days. You lose access after the refund.
- Charged in error? Snapchat says to try its Snapchat Support Bot (external site, opens in a new tab).
Other in-app purchases (for example Bitmoji AI Fashion): Snapchat says refunds must be requested through the App Store or Google Play, not Snapchat. Through Verizon +play or MySTC? Contact Verizon +play support (external site, opens in a new tab) or MySTC customer care (external site, opens in a new tab).
Did it work? You get a confirmation from Apple, Google or Snapchat.
Did Fix 2 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 2. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 3: Fix “Restore Failed”
Snapchat says Restore Failed means no purchases were found for the Snapchat account you’re using.
- Log into the Snapchat account you subscribed with, then tap Restore Purchases again.
- If a pop-up says your Apple ID or Google Play account was used with another Snapchat account, switch to that Snapchat account.
- Subscribed on the web? Resume it at accounts.snapchat.com (external site, opens in a new tab).
- Still failing? Contact Apple Support (external site, opens in a new tab) or Google Play Support (external site, opens in a new tab) about past purchases.
Snapchat says you can’t transfer or restore a subscription from one Snapchat account to another. Only one monthly subscription is allowed per Apple ID or Google Play account, but you can make a one-time 12-month purchase for a second Snapchat account. Subscribed on the wrong account? Snapchat says to cancel on that account so it doesn’t renew, then log into the account you want and buy the one-time 12-month subscription from inside Snapchat. Redeemed gifts also stay on the account that redeemed them.
Did it work? Snapchat+ features appear on your account.
Did Fix 3 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 3. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Subscribed but features aren’t showing (or no Snapchat+ card)
- Restart Snapchat: Snapchat says you may need to restart the app after subscribing for Snapchat+ options to appear.
- No Snapchat+ banner in your Profile? Snapchat says you may need to dismiss other banner cards first.
- Right account? The subscription only applies to the account you were logged into when you chose the plan (see Restore Failed).
- Still seeing ads after getting Platinum? Snapchat says you may need to wait a few minutes or restart the app.
- Lens+ features missing? Snapchat says Lens+ comes only with Lens+ Monthly or Platinum; check your plan, update Snapchat, and restart the app. It can take a few minutes after subscribing.
To subscribe: in the app, go to your Profile > Snapchat+ banner > choose a plan. On the web, go to snapchat.com/plus (external site, opens in a new tab) > Subscribe on web > choose a plan > Continue > sign in or sign up > enter payment info and agree to the terms.
A charge right after subscribing?
Snapchat says when you enter a card, an authorization charge checks that it’s valid, active and has enough funds. It’s returned within a few days.
Snapchat+ plans: Family, Platinum and Lens+ (and upgrading)
Snapchat says you can subscribe monthly or yearly, and upgrade to other plans. Some may not be available in your region.
- Family Plan: the subscriber can add 2 more people; each gets Snapchat+ features and 250GB of Memories storage. It’s the only plan that lets you add people, and Snapchat says if you switch to another plan, the people you added lose access.
- Platinum Monthly: Snapchat+ with no Story or Lens ads (Snapchat’s “What is Snapchat+” page also says no Sponsored Snaps), everything in Lens+ with a higher monthly AI Lens allowance, and 5TB of Memories storage. You may still see sponsored places and My AI responses.
- Lens+ Monthly: Snapchat+ plus exclusive Lenses and AI features, with the same Memories storage as Snapchat+. Snapchat says its AI Lenses have a monthly generation allowance that resets on your Lens+ billing date; when you hit it, Snapchat shows how many days are left and may offer Platinum for a higher allowance.
- Snapchat says Platinum and Lens+ are rolling out slowly and aren’t available with web subscriptions.
To upgrade: sign into the Snapchat account you want to upgrade > Profile > Snapchat+ banner > choose the plan, then complete the purchase in the App Store or Google Play. No upgrade option? Snapchat says the plan may not be available in your region, or, if you already pay through Apple or Google, you may need to manage the subscription in that store using the same Apple ID or Google account.
Promo codes, gift cards and discounts (and when a code won’t work)
Snapchat says discounted promotions are only redeemable in the Snapchat app, at snapchat.com/plus, or at a specific URL from a Snapchat partner. Our tip: treat any other “Snapchat+ discount” link as a likely scam.
Redeem a partner code: check the partner’s eligibility rules (some codes are only for people who’ve never subscribed), go to the partner’s redemption site or Snapchat’s promo redemption page (external site, opens in a new tab), log in, enter the code and tap Continue, then pick a plan and start your free trial.
- Card needed: Snapchat says you need a valid credit or debit card even for a free trial, and it becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends. Cancel at the accounts portal (external site, opens in a new tab).
- Gift card (for example from Amazon or Target)? Snapchat says to check the seller’s terms first, then go to snapchat.com/plus (external site, opens in a new tab) > Redeem Gift Card, sign in, enter the card details and click Redeem.
- Code not working? Check you’re logged into the right account, that you meet the partner’s eligibility rules, and that the code hasn’t expired or been used. Didn’t receive a code? Contact the partner. Snapchat also suggests its Support Bot (external site, opens in a new tab).
Buddy Passes: give a friend Snapchat+ free for 7 days
Snapchat says subscribers get 3 Buddy Passes at the start of each billing cycle (monthly) or each month (annual), each giving a friend Snapchat+ free for 7 days. Go to your Snapchat+ management page > Send Buddy Passes > select three friends who aren’t subscribers > send. Snapchat says you and your friends should all update Snapchat.
- Friend can’t redeem it? Check they aren’t already subscribed, ask them to update the app and open the invite directly from your Buddy Pass message, or send it again from your Snapchat+ page.
- Sent to the wrong person? Snapchat says its support team can’t send or replace Buddy Passes.
Platinum ads, promo codes and what Snapchat+ includes
Snapchat says Platinum means no Story or Lens ads (its “What is Snapchat+” page also says no Sponsored Snaps), and that you may still see sponsored places and My AI responses. See ad settings. Snapchat also offers promo codes as a way to sign up.
Snapchat lists dozens of Snapchat+ features, including Streak Restore, Story Rewatch, Custom App Icon and Themes, #1 Best Friend, Extended Best Friends List, Priority Story Replies, Custom Story Expiration, Story View Notifications, AI Captions, Create a Bio for My AI and the Snapchat+ badge; Snapchat+ also lets you pin My AI. Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel Snapchat+?
Snapchat says it depends where you subscribed: the App Store on iPhone, Google Play on Android, or Snapchat’s accounts portal (My Subscription) on the web.
Can I get a refund for Snapchat+?
Snapchat says App Store and Google Play refunds come from Apple or Google. For web subscriptions, the US has no refunds for unused time, while the EU and UK give a pro-rated refund if you cancel within 14 days of being charged.
Why was I charged after my Snapchat+ free trial?
Snapchat says iPhone users must cancel 24 hours before the trial ends; cancelling on the last day means Apple renews the subscription.
What does Restore Failed mean on Snapchat+?
Snapchat says no purchases were found for that Snapchat account. Log into the account you subscribed with; subscriptions can’t be moved between accounts.
Can I transfer Snapchat+ to another account?
No. Snapchat says the subscription stays on the account you subscribed with. If you used the wrong account, cancel it there and subscribe on the right one; a second account on the same Apple ID or Google Play account can get a one-time 12-month plan.
Does cancelling Snapchat+ end it immediately?
For US web subscriptions, Snapchat says you keep Snapchat+ until the end of the period you paid for. EU and UK web subscribers who cancel within the first 14 days get a pro-rated refund and lose access.
