- Snapchat replaced “Everyone” with public My StoryCheck this first
Snapchat says you may no longer have “Everyone” under View My Story, and calls public My Story the new My Story with Everyone settings.
- Different rules for ages 16–17Possible
Snapchat says public Stories from 16- and 17-year-olds are only recommended to friends, followers and people with mutual friends, not to the wider community in Discover.
Try these 60-second checks first
- Check you’re choosing My Story · Public, not My Story · Friends, when you want a wider audience.
How to fix it, step by step
Work through these in order. They start with the quickest, safest checks and only move to steps that sign you out or remove data later.
Fix 1: Post to everyone with My Story · Public
Snapchat says “Everyone” under View My Story is replaced by your public My Story, which shares content with all Snapchatters, including your friends and followers (if you’re 18+).
- When posting a Story, choose My Story · Public to share with a wider audience.
- Choose My Story · Friends to post to friends only. Snapchat says the My Friends and Custom options for My Story are still available.
Where people see it (Snapchat): friends (people you’ve added back) see it in the Friends section of the Stories page; followers (people you haven’t added back) see it under Following; and anyone can see it on your Public Profile. Like My Story, it’s no longer viewable once it expires.
Did it work? Your public Story shows on your Public Profile.

Fix 2: Edit your Public Profile
Snapchat says this is where you add a bio, profile photo and other public information.
- Tap your Bitmoji or Story icon at the top to open your Profile.
- Tap Public Profile, then the pencil icon at the top.
- Photo: tap the picture, choose from Memories or your camera roll (or Choose from Library to replace it), move and scale, then Confirm. To remove it, tap it > Delete Existing Photo.
- Follower count: toggle Show Follower Count on or off (Snapchat’s Profiles page calls it Show How Many Follow Me, under Edit Profile).
- Add a Story to your Public Profile: tap Add a Story to your Profile, pick Snaps from your Post Archive, Memories or Camera Roll, tap Add, review and tap Next, set a title and cover, then tap Finish.
Name tips (Snapchat): use a first name, last name, stage name or company name, and avoid more than 2 words, symbols or emoji such as “$” or “%”, promotional words, or anything against the Community Guidelines, because these may affect your exposure. Snapchat says people who aren’t your friends can see your profile picture in Add Friends, Search and Suggested For You. To change your username or display name instead, see change Snapchat username and details.
Did it work? Tap Preview Your Profile in your Public Profile Settings to see what other Snapchatters see.

Fix 3: Auto-save Stories to your Public Profile
Snapchat says this adds a new Story to your Public Profile every day at midnight, made from your Public Story Snaps of the last day.
- Go to your Public Profile and tap ⚙️.
- Under Manage Public Story, turn on Auto-Save Stories to Profile.
Snapchat says you’re notified each time a Story is auto-saved, you can edit or delete them, and posts with the Limited Reach label aren’t included. This is separate from auto-saving to Memories; see Snapchat Memories.
Did it work? A new saved Story appears on your Public Profile after midnight.
Did Fix 3 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 3. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 4: Clear (delete) your Public Profile
Snapchat says you can clear your Public Profile or simply choose not to use it.
- Go to your Public Profile and tap the three-dot menu in the top right to open Public Profile Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Clear Public Profile, then confirm.
Permanent: Snapchat says this removes everything you added, such as your bio, profile photo, public Stories and Stories saved to your Public Profile, and it can’t be reinstated (you can start again by adding content). It does not delete your username or account. Spotlight and Snap Map Snaps are not deleted; remove them in the Spotlight & Snap Map section of your Profile, before or after. Snap Star or Public Profile for Business? Snapchat says you can go back to a standard Public Profile at any time, but clearing loses extras like Membership Roles, category, website and email.
Did it work? Your Public Profile shows no bio, photo or saved Stories.

Schedule a public Story post
On the Send To screen, select My Story • Public, tap the three dots at the bottom, pick the date and time and tap Done, then send your Snap to schedule it.
Send your public Story to a friend
In your Profile, tap Public Profile at the top, press and hold the Story tile you want to share, then tap Share Story. To send just one Snap from it, press and hold while viewing that Snap and tap Export or Send Snap.
See who viewed or replied to your public Story
Go to your Public Profile and tap your public Story Snap. Snapchat says this shows which of your friends viewed it and replies from followers. Replies from friends go straight to your Chat feed.
What the Snap Star and Snapchat+ badges mean
- Snap Star badge: Snapchat says this marks a public figure, creator or personality verified by Snap. It means the account is run by the real person or an authorized team, and Snap has confirmed their identity and public presence as far as it can.
- Snapchat+ or Platinum badge: Snapchat says this only shows the person pays for a subscription. It’s off by default, appears only if they turn it on or use a subscriber feature, and is not identity verification or an endorsement by Snap.
- Losing a Snap Star label: Snapchat says it can be removed if the account no longer meets the program’s requirements, the creator’s role changes, Snap can’t confirm ownership, the creator asks, or the account breaks Snap’s policies. Snap Stars can ask for removal through in-app Support or the Help Center.
- Snapchat says labeled profiles follow the same Community Guidelines, but their content may get extra checks before appearing in Spotlight or Stories, and unusual login attempts may trigger extra security steps.
Under 16? You get My Profile (friends only)
Snapchat says My Profile is a dedicated content profile for Snapchatters under 16, for showing Stories and Spotlight videos to friends only. To start: tap your Bitmoji icon at the top of the Camera screen > My Profile > Create My Profile, then add content.
- Who sees it: Snapchat says only friends can see your saved Stories and Spotlight posts and reposts. Your profile photo and background image are visible to non-friends.
- Spotlight: you can still post, but Snapchat says posts are only visible to friends. They show under the Spotlight tab, and friends may see them in the Spotlight section.
- Adding content: from your Post Archive, Memories or Camera Roll; it appears under the Stories tab, friends only.
- Snap Map: Snapchat says public Snap Map posts and location Stories aren’t available; you can tag your location in Snaps, visible only to friends.
- Later on: Snapchat says if you become eligible, you’ll see an option to upgrade to a limited Public Profile, and content you saved before becomes viewable by more Snapchatters. You can’t switch back to My Profile, but you can delete saved Stories or Spotlight posts, or clear your Public Profile, at any time.
Public Stories if you’re 16 or 17
- Snapchat says public Stories from 16- and 17-year-olds are only recommended to their friends, followers and people they share mutual friends with, and aren’t shown to the wider community in Discover.
- By default, Snapchat says 16- and 17-year-olds can receive Story replies from followers, but can’t chat with someone who replied unless they’re mutually accepted friends.
- Story replies can be turned off at any time.
How to know it worked
- Your public Story appears on your Public Profile, and Preview Your Profile shows what you expect.
Still not working? Your next steps
- Can’t post at all? See Snapchat not working. Want to stop someone seeing your public content? See block someone on Snapchat; Snapchat says blocked people can still see content you post publicly.
