Quick answer
Press and hold My AI in Chat > Chat and Notification Settings > Unpin Conversation or Clear from Chat Feed. To delete what you’ve shared: Settings ⚙️ > Privacy Controls > Clear Data > Clear My AI Data on iPhone, or Account Actions > Clear My AI Data on Android (some Snapchat pages say Delete Data > Delete My AI Data). Snapchat says deletion can take up to 30 days.

iPhone & iPadAndroid
Based on 13 Snapchat Support articles supplied by the site owner. Some Settings labels differ between iPhone and Android, and between Snapchat’s own help pages (see delete your data).
Why this happens: the possible causes
What each action does, and what it doesn’t.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Unpin Conversation | Moves My AI off the top of your Chat feed |
| Clear from Chat Feed | Removes the conversation thread; doesn’t delete your data |
| Clear (or Delete) My AI Data | Deletes past content from your 1:1 chat; up to 30 days |
| Ghost Mode | Hides you from friends on Snap Map, not from My AI |
| Turn off Snapchat location | Stops My AI getting your location; then clear My AI data |
- Clearing the chat isn’t deleting your dataCheck this first
Snapchat says Clear from Chat Feed removes the thread from your Chat feed, but doesn’t delete data you’ve previously shared with My AI.
- Snapchat still has location accessCheck this first
Snapchat says if you share your location with Snapchat, it’s shared with My AI, even in Ghost Mode.
Try these 60-second checks first
- Find My AI: swipe right from the Camera to open Chat, or tap the 🔍 magnifying glass and search “My AI”.
How to fix it, step by step
Work through these in order. They start with the quickest, safest checks and only move to steps that sign you out or remove data later.
Fix 1: Unpin or remove (clear) My AI from your Chat feed
Snapchat says you can unpin My AI or clear it from your Chat feed from its Chat and Notification Settings.
- Swipe right from the Camera to go to Chat.
- Press and hold on My AI, then tap Chat and Notification Settings.
- Tap Unpin Conversation to unpin it, or Clear from Chat Feed (then confirm) to remove it.
Clearing isn’t deleting: Snapchat says it removes the conversation thread from your Chat feed but doesn’t delete data you’ve shared with My AI. To do that, see delete your My AI data.
Did it work? My AI is no longer pinned, or no longer in your Chat feed.
Did Fix 1 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 1. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 2: Delete your My AI data
Snapchat says all content you share with My AI is kept until you delete it. You can delete recent messages in the chat, and all past content in Settings.
- Sent in the last 24 hours: long-press the message in your Chat with My AI and tap Delete (confirm if asked).
iPhone & iPad
- Tap your Profile icon, then ⚙️ to open Settings.
- Scroll to Privacy Controls and tap Clear Data.
- Tap Clear My AI Data and confirm.
Android
- Tap your Profile icon, then ⚙️ to open Settings.
- Scroll to Account Actions, tap Clear My AI Data and confirm.
Button names vary: some Snapchat help pages call these Delete Data and Delete My AI Data instead. Snapchat says it can take up to 30 days to delete the data from its servers. Group chats: Snapchat says this clears your 1:1 chat with My AI only, not messages in group chats that include My AI (see group chats and Team Snapchat).
Did it work? Our check: Snapchat asks you to confirm, and the option completes. Snapchat says full deletion from its servers can take up to 30 days.
Did Fix 2 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 2. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 3: Stop My AI using your location
Snapchat says My AI only has your general location if you share it with Snapchat or tell My AI in a chat. It uses it for nearby place suggestions when you ask, and doesn’t collect new location information itself.
iPhone & iPad
- Open your iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
- Scroll to Snapchat and, under Allow Location Access, choose Never.
- Then clear your My AI data, because Snapchat says your location may still be cached.
Android
- Long-press the Snapchat app icon and tap App info.
- Tap Permissions > Location and choose Deny.
- Then clear your My AI data, because Snapchat says your location may still be cached.
Ghost Mode doesn’t stop it: Snapchat says Ghost Mode hides your location from friends on Snap Map, not from the Snapchat app, so My AI may still have it. Snapchat also links Apple’s Location Services help (external site, opens in a new tab) and Google’s location help (external site, opens in a new tab). Our note: turning off location also affects other Snapchat features that use it, such as Snap Map.
Did it work? Ask My AI for something “near me”: Snapchat says without your location it can’t give nearby suggestions.
Did Fix 3 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 3. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Fix 4: Mute My AI notifications
Snapchat lets you mute My AI’s chats and calls for a time you choose.
- On the Chat screen, press and hold on My AI.
- Tap Chat and Notification Settings > Notification Settings.
- Turn on Mute Chats and/or Mute Calls and choose how long.
Did it work? You stop getting My AI notifications for the time you chose.
Did Fix 4 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 4. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Get My AI back, or pin it again
- Re-pin it: in Chat (or search “My AI” with the 🔍 magnifying glass), press and hold My AI > Chat and Notification Settings > Pin Conversation.
- Add it back after clearing: tap 🔍, search “My AI”, open it and send it a Chat. Snapchat says that puts it back in your Chat feed.
- Snapchat+: to pin My AI to the top of your Chat feed, Snapchat says to tap the Snapchat+ banner in My Account and turn on Pin My AI?
Does My AI remember you? What Snapchat stores
- Stored until you delete it: Snapchat says everything you share with My AI is kept until you delete it. It says stored chats help improve My AI, personalize your experience and keep your chat history available to you.
- Doesn’t remember over time: Snapchat says My AI won’t remember details from your earlier conversations over time, even though they’re stored.
- Ads and products: Snapchat says what you share with My AI, including your location if you’ve shared it with Snapchat, may be used to improve Snap’s products and personalize your experience, including ads.
- What it’s powered by: Snapchat says My AI uses large language models such as OpenAI’s GPT and Google’s Gemini, with Snapchat’s own safety controls. Its answers may not be current on recent news, and it may avoid some sensitive subjects.
- Give feedback: long-press any My AI reply to give Snapchat feedback.
- If you share its answers: Snapchat asks you to let people know AI was involved.
Group chats and Team Snapchat
- Group chats with My AI: Snapchat says My AI can read messages in a group chat it’s in, so it can take part. Clearing your My AI data doesn’t delete group chat messages. To delete your own message there, press and hold it and tap Delete; Snapchat says friends can see that a message was deleted, and you can’t delete messages others sent.
- Team Snapchat: Snapchat says if you accepted the Team Snapchat generative AI pop-up, your messages with Team Snapchat may be stored separately. Deleting your My AI data doesn’t delete them. Go to Settings > Privacy Controls > Clear Data > Clear Conversations > Team Snapchat and confirm. Our note: Snapchat’s page gives this one path and doesn’t list separate Android steps.
An AI chatbot ad in your Chat feed? That’s not My AI
Snapchat says an AI Sponsored Snap is an ad in your Chat feed that opens a 1:1 chat with an advertiser’s AI chatbot. It isn’t My AI and it isn’t a person: the advertiser provides and manages the chatbot and is responsible for its replies.
- Spot it: it shows as a chat from the advertiser’s Public Profile with an Ad badge and a blue messaging icon (standard Sponsored Snaps use a red or purple icon).
- What you can send: text and images; videos and other formats give an error.
- Your data: Snapchat says it keeps these chats under the same rules as your other Chats, and your messages also go to the advertiser’s AI service, handled under the advertiser’s privacy policy (linked when you first open the chat).
- Remove it: press and hold it in your Chat feed > Clear from Chat Feed. If you don’t send a message, Snapchat says it disappears after you leave the Chat tab; if you do, it stays like a normal chat. Some advertiser chats (Snapchat names Experian) have an x to clear them, or, if you follow that Public Profile, press and hold > Chat and Notification Settings > Clear from Chat Feed.
- Report it: press and hold the chat > Report Ad, or long-press a chatbot message > Report. You can block the advertiser’s Public Profile, but Snapchat says that may not stop their Sponsored Snaps appearing.
- Opt out: Snapchat says these are part of its ads program, and the Snapchat+ Platinum monthly plan removes Sponsored Snaps, Story and Lens ads.
What not to use My AI for
Snapchat says not to use My AI for political, sexual, harassing or deceptive content, spam, malware, or content promoting violence, self-harm or human trafficking, or anything against its Community Guidelines (external site, opens in a new tab).
