Why you can’t access Family Center

- Not in your country yet: Snapchat says it’s rolling out slowly in different countries.
- Snapchat’s minimum age for any account is 13, and some regions set it higher.
What parents can and can’t see
Snapchat says you can’t read your teen’s messages. You can:
- See who your teen has chatted with recently: their 5 most recent conversations, or tap View All Recents for the last 7 days.
- See group members in active group chats.
- See their friends, with New Friends from the last 7 days (tap View All Friends to see more).
- Limit sensitive content and stop My AI from replying to your teen.
- See key privacy settings such as birthdate, Public Profile and location sharing.
- Report accounts to Snapchat (see report on Snapchat).
Your teen’s location and place alerts
- Live location: in Family Center, send your teen a request to share their live location. Snapchat says once they accept, you’ll see it in the app, and you can share yours back.
- Place Notifications (Snapchat also calls these Place Alerts): get alerts when your teen arrives at or leaves saved places such as home or school. Choose the places and turn alerts on or off.
- Snapchat says you can see your teen’s location if they share it with you. More on location: Snap Map location settings.
