Quick answer
Go to accounts.snapchat.com, log in, tap Delete my account, enter your password and tap Continue. On iPhone you can also start from Settings > Account Actions > Delete Account. Your account is deactivated for 30 days; log back in during that time if you change your mind. Our advice: download your data first. Snapchat says you have 30 days after deleting to download it, and it’s permanently deleted after 60 days if you don’t log in or download it.

Fix 1: Delete your Snapchat account
Snapchat says you delete accounts through its accounts portal.

- Scroll to Account Actions and tap Delete Account.
- Log in to the Snapchat accounts portal, tap Delete my account, enter your password, and tap Continue.

Save your data first
Snapchat says you have 30 days after deactivating or deleting to download your data. If you don’t log in or download it in that time, it’s permanently deleted after 60 days. To download it: log in at accounts.snapchat.com > My Data, choose what you want, and submit; Snapchat emails you when it’s ready. (Full steps: download your data.)
Snapchat says it keeps some data after deletion for legal, security and business reasons, such as records of purchases and when you accepted its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Deleting the account of someone who passed away
Snapchat says its privacy policies don’t allow it to give anyone access to the account of a person who has died. It only accepts requests from a verified email address associated with that account.
To delete the account, Snapchat says to log in to it at accounts.snapchat.com, click Delete My Account, and follow the prompts. Snapchat also has an online tool for authenticated people to manage an account. For requesting its data, see Snapchat’s data request help (external site, opens in a new tab).
Changed your mind?
Log in to the Snapchat app with your username within 30 days. Snapchat says you can’t use your email or phone number to log in, or change your password, while it’s deactivated; only you can reactivate it; and permanently deleted accounts can’t come back. See reactivate your account.
How to know it worked
- Your account is deactivated, and you’ve saved any data you want.
Still not working? Your next steps
- Can’t log in to the accounts portal? See can’t log in to Snapchat.
