Facebook Page Videos: Post, Edit, Add Captions and Crosspost (Computer, iPhone, Android)

To post a video to a Facebook Page, you first switch into the Page, then post it like any other update. Meta says you can post from a computer or the app, but editing a Page video only works on a computer. Captions can be auto-generated, written yourself, or uploaded as an .srt file. To share a video across several Pages, you set up a crossposting relationship.

Quick answer

Post: switch into your Page > What’s on your mind? > Photo/Video > choose the video > Next > Post now (Share now on Android). Edit or add captions later: on a computer, open the post > Options > Edit post. Crosspost: in your Page’s Settings > Media > Crossposting, add the other Page; it must confirm.

Does this match what you see?

  • You can’t find where to post a video as your Page.
  • There’s no Edit option for a Page video on your phone.
  • Your Page video has no captions.
  • You want another Page to share your video.

How to fix it, step by step

Work through these in order. They start with the quickest, safest checks and only move to steps that sign you out or remove data later.

Fix 1: Post a video to your Page

Safe & reversible3 minComputer (browser)iPhone & iPadAndroid

Meta says people with Facebook access to a Page can post from Facebook; people with task access use Meta Business Suite.

iPhone & iPad

  1. Tap Menu (bottom right on iPad) or your profile picture > Options, and choose the Page.
  2. Tap What’s on your mind? > Photo/video, choose the video, then Next (or Done on iPad). You can also Record video.
  3. Tap the video to use the in-app edit tools, then Next.
  4. Adjust post settings and tap Post now.

Android

  1. Tap Menu > Options, and choose the Page.
  2. Tap What’s on your mind? > Photo/Video, choose the video, then Next (or Record video > Done).
  3. Add details, or tap Edit on the thumbnail.
  4. Tap Share now.

Computer (browser)

  1. Switch into your Page: click your profile photo (top right) > See all profiles > the Page.
  2. Click What’s on your mind, [Name]? > Add video, and choose the file.
  3. Use Video Options to add a title, tags, captions and a thumbnail (suggested, your own image, or a frame from the video).
  4. Click Post.

No Page? Meta says to post from your profile instead; see upload a video from a computer. Need Page access? See Page access types (external site, opens in a new tab).

Did it work? The video appears on your Page.

Fix 2: Edit a Page video (on a computer)

Safe & reversible3 minComputer (browser)

Meta says editing a Page video is only available on a computer, on Facebook or in Meta Business Suite.

Computer (browser)

  1. Switch into your Page, then go to the Page and find the video or reel.
  2. Click Options > Edit post.
  3. Click Edit to change Closed captions, Audio descriptions or Text transcripts, then Done > Next.
  4. Change details or the post audience, then click Save.

On a phone? Meta says you can’t edit a Page video there. Open Facebook in a computer browser instead.

Did it work? Your changes show on the Page post.

Add captions to a Page video

Meta says you can auto-generate captions and edit them, write them yourself, or upload a SubRip (.srt) file.

  1. Switch into your Page and click What’s on your mind, [Name]? > Photo/Video > Add photos/videos, and choose the video.
  2. Once it uploads, click Next.
  3. Click Closed captions on the left, then choose auto-generate or upload an .srt file.
  4. Click Next > Post.

Already posted? Find the post on your Page, click Options (top right) > Edit Post, and follow the same steps. Uploading an .srt file? Meta says check it’s named correctly (external site, opens in a new tab) and formatted correctly (external site, opens in a new tab) first.

Meta says people watching with sound off see captions automatically; people with sound on must turn captions on. The caption language follows each viewer’s preferred language (external site, opens in a new tab). Viewers can turn captions on in their own settings: see captions on Facebook videos.

Crosspost videos with another Page

Crossposting lets you use a video across several Pages. Meta says you need a crossposting relationship first, unless you already have Facebook access to the other Page.

Request a crossposting relationship (computer)

  1. Switch into your Page, then click your Page photo (top right) > Settings & privacy > Settings.
  2. Click Media on the left.
  3. In Crossposting, type the other Page’s name or Facebook URL next to Add Page, and select it.
  4. For Live Videos, choose whether their live videos crosspost without approval or need approval by someone with access to your Page.
  5. Click Next, follow the on-screen steps, then Done.

The other Page must confirm by adding your Page in its own crossposting settings. You can copy the confirmation link and send it to someone who manages that Page.

Crossposting the videos

  • Meta’s crosspost help says to crosspost in Meta Business Suite (computer or app); its relationship page still names Creator Studio.
  • For non-live videos, the owner Page must allow the video. The owner Page sees the posts and their insights, and removing permissions may unpublish them.
  • Captions from the first upload carry over; captions added later with Edit Video don’t, so upload a new .srt file.
  • Only live videos made with the Live API can be crossposted; Meta says mobile live videos can’t.

Meta’s crossposting rules

  • Buying or selling crossposts breaks Meta’s Partner Monetization Policies.
  • Don’t crosspost to gain likes or followers for Pages with no clear relationship.
  • Posts that break the policies may be demonetized and can’t run ads.
  • Partners should be listed as Affiliated Pages in Business Manager; Meta says Pages with many crosspost views must have these links to monetize crossposts.

How to know it worked

  • Your video is on your Page with the captions and settings you want.
