Quick answer
X says your Posts tab shows your 800 most recent posts, and Posts & replies shows your 3,200 most recent posts and replies. Posts more than a week old may not show in timelines or search because of indexing limits, but X says old posts are never lost. Deleting lots of posts in a row, or using a mass-deletion app, can also cut off your timeline and make your post count wrong.
Does this match what you see?
- Your profile timeline ends at a certain date.
- You can’t find an old post in X search.
- The post count on your profile doesn’t match what you see.

How to fix it, step by step
Work through these in order. They start with the quickest, safest checks and only move to steps that sign you out or remove data later.
Fix 1: Profile stops at a certain date
X says your Posts tab displays your 800 most recent posts, and your Posts & replies tab displays your 3,200 most recent posts and replies.
- Open your profile and switch to Posts & replies, which X says shows up to 3,200 recent posts and replies (Posts shows 800).
- Our tip: if you need everything, use your X data archive (see the tip at the top of this page).
X says old posts are never lost, but can’t always be displayed.
Did it work? Our check: older posts appear in Posts & replies or in your archive.

Old posts don’t show in search or timelines
X says posts more than a week old may fail to display in timelines or search because of indexing capacity limits. It says they’re never lost, but can’t always be displayed.
Search results missing posts or accounts?
- Safe search: X says it hides potentially sensitive content and accounts you’ve muted or blocked from search. On x.com, click the more icon on the search results page > Search settings, and uncheck Hide sensitive content and/or Remove blocked and muted accounts (X says it may take several minutes to apply). X says the setting then applies on the web and in the iPhone and Android apps. On Android, X says you can also tap the overflow icon in search > Search settings and uncheck Hide sensitive content and/or Remove blocked and muted accounts.
- Filters: in the app, tap Explore, search, then switch between Top and Latest (and People, Photos, Videos and more). Use the filter icon to choose All people (iPhone) or From anyone (Android), or People you follow; and Everywhere (iPhone) or Anywhere (Android), or Near you. Our tip: Latest shows newer posts that Top may skip.
Your post count looks wrong
X says if you deleted a lot of posts in a row or ran a mass-deletion program, the post count on your profile may not match the real number of posts.
Mass-deletion apps
X says deleting many posts in a row, or using a mass-deletion program, can cut off your profile timeline, and it doesn’t advise using these programs. Our tip: if you connected one, you can remove its access.
Will deactivating fix missing posts?
No. X says deactivating and reactivating your account won’t resolve missing posts. See deactivate or delete your account.
How to know it worked
- Our check: you can see older posts in Posts & replies or your archive.
Still not working? Your next steps
- Think someone deleted your posts? See can’t log in to X.
