Quick answer
Cancel on the platform where you subscribed: in X for iPhone or through Apple, on your Android device or through Google, or on x.com from the creator’s profile > Subscriptions > Manage Subscription. X says uninstalling the app or deactivating doesn’t cancel it (except x.com purchases, which cancel when you deactivate). Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. Subscriptions are non-refundable unless required by law.
Does this match what you see?
- You’re still being charged for a creator Subscription.
- Your Subscription payment won’t go through.
- You paid but don’t see the creator’s Subscriber-only posts.
- You see “Purchases from this device have been disabled” or “Purchase can’t be completed.”

Why this happens: the possible causes
Common Subscription problems, from X’s page.
| Problem | Go to |
|---|---|
| Still charged | Cancel where you bought it |
| Payment declined | Payment checks |
| No Subscriber content | Content not showing |
| Purchase error | Error messages |
- Canceled on the wrong platformCheck this first
X says all cancellations must be done through the platform you used to buy the Subscription.
- Card or bank restrictionsCheck this first
X lists wrong card or address details, daily limits, card issuers limiting internet transactions, and bank IP checks as reasons a payment may be declined.
- Activation delayPossible
X says it might take a few minutes for a Subscription to become available.
Try these 60-second checks first
- Note where you bought the Subscription: iPhone app, Android app or x.com.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews.
How to fix it, step by step
Work through these in order. They start with the quickest, safest checks and only move to steps that sign you out or remove data later.
Fix 1: Cancel a creator Subscription
X says you manage or cancel a Subscription from the platform where you first signed up.
iPhone & iPad
- Bought in X for iOS? Cancel in X for iOS or through Apple Support.
- Our tip: you can also see Apple subscriptions in your iPhone’s Settings > your name > Subscriptions.
Android
- Bought through Google? Cancel on your Android device or by contacting Google Support.
Computer (browser)
- Bought on x.com? Log in, go to the creator’s profile, select Subscriptions, then Manage Subscription.
X says cancel at least 24 hours before auto-renewal. Your access lasts until the end of the billing cycle, and canceling doesn’t refund what you’ve paid. Turning off auto-renew in Apple or Google, or choosing Cancel your plan on x.com (Stripe), stops the next payment and unsubscribes you. For people in the EU or UK, X points to Apple’s and Google’s own cancellation instructions, refund policies and model cancellation forms.
Did it work? Our check: the Subscription shows as canceled, with an end date, where you bought it.

Fix 2: Paid, but can’t see Subscriber content
X says it might take a few minutes for your Subscription to become available.
- Wait a few minutes, then look on your Home timeline and on the creator’s profile under the Subs tab (also the main Posts tab).
- Still nothing? X says cancel your Subscription, log in to your account and resubscribe. X says you won’t be charged again, and this should activate it.
- Make sure you’re on the right account: X says only one of your X accounts can subscribe to a specific creator, and your Apple ID, Google Account or Stripe purchase is limited to one purchase of that Subscription.
Did it work? Our check: Subscriber-only posts appear in the creator’s Subs tab.
Did Fix 2 solve it?
Great, you fixed it with Fix 2. Tell us it worked, or bookmark this page in case it happens again.
Subscription payment declined
X says the payment provider tries a purchase or monthly renewal up to 3 times. If you have enough funds but it still fails, X suggests checking:
- Your card details are correct.
- Your address and zip or postal code are correct.
- You haven’t hit X’s daily limit on your account (limits reset daily).
- Your card issuer doesn’t limit internet transactions; if it does, contact your bank or card provider.
- You’re not using a proxy or VPN: X says your bank may have an IP check that restricts purchases. Contact your bank to find out why the card was declined.
- You didn’t turn off auto-renew.
X says Subscriptions are billed monthly through the payment provider you used, around the same date each month. To change your payment method, date or billing details, use that same platform.
Error messages when buying
- “Purchases from this device have been disabled”: X says your Apple ID or Google Account may have restricted purchasing, such as parental controls. If not, contact Apple Support or see the Google Play Help Center.
- “Purchase can’t be completed”: X says check your network connection and try again later.
- Can’t connect to App Store or Google Play: X says you may have network or server issues; try again later.
- Report a bug: X says open the sidebar from your Home timeline, select Purchases, then Get help.
Refunds and subscribing to the wrong person
- X says Subscriptions are non-refundable unless required by law, including for suspended accounts or accounts you’ve lost access to.
- Wrong person? X says you can’t transfer it: cancel, then subscribe to the right profile. Purchases made in error aren’t refunded unless required by law.
- Creator stopped their offering? X says it cancels your Subscription and you won’t be charged the next month, but payments for a cycle canceled midway aren’t refunded.
- X’s authenticity policy says it doesn’t intervene in financial disputes between people on X, such as sales of goods or disputed refunds.
- Creator not posting the perks? X says contact them directly; if that doesn’t help, unsubscribe the same way you bought it.
Suspended, locked or blocked
- Your account suspended or locked (iOS/Android): X says this doesn’t cancel your Subscriptions; cancel through the platform you subscribed from to avoid more charges.
- Your account suspended (x.com/Stripe): X says the Subscription is canceled automatically.
- Creator suspended, deleted or removed: X says your Subscription is canceled, you’re no longer charged, and you’ll get a notification.
- Creator blocked you: X says you’re not automatically unsubscribed. You’ll be told you can’t access their offering, and you need to cancel it yourself to stop charges.
See also X account suspended.
Subscriber badge and notifications
- Badge: X says a Subscriber badge appears next to your name on replies to posts by the people you subscribe to. You get one badge, not one per creator.
- Hide it (iOS and Android): X says select the Subscriptions button on the creator’s profile and turn the setting off. Your badge is then hidden on replies to their public posts from everyone except the creator; it still shows on Subscriber-only posts. It’s on by default.
- Notifications (iOS and Android): go to the creator’s profile, select Subscribe, and in Account notification select Subscriber-only posts. See also X notifications not working.
How Subscriptions work
- Look for the Subscribe button on a creator’s profile, a Subscription link, or a Subscriber-only post preview. Each Subscription is a separate purchase, priced monthly by the creator.
- Perks can include exclusive posts, Subscriber-only Spaces, Subscriber-only replies, a Subscriptions tab, and (if the creator allows) DMs.
- X says Subscriber posts and the replies to them are seen only by that creator’s Subscribers; others see a preview of the post, but not the replies.
- X says the creator doesn’t see your payment details. X gets a receipt including your card’s last four digits; on the web, Stripe collects the remaining payment data.
- X says creators can earn up to about 97%, with deductions for payment processing or app store fees, cancellations and refunds.
- As of October 31, 2026, X says there are no free trials. X’s list of available countries includes the US, UK, Canada, Australia and most of Europe.
How to know it worked
- Our check: canceled Subscriptions show an end date where you bought them, and active ones show content in the creator’s Subs tab.
Still not working? Your next steps
- Paying for X Premium rather than a creator? See X Premium checkmark and billing.
- Leaving X? Cancel first, then see deactivate your X account.
