TikTok’s comment filters
All of these are in Settings and privacy > Privacy > Comments. TikTok says filtered comments are hidden until you approve them:
- Filter all comments: every comment is hidden unless you approve it. TikTok says this isn’t available to everyone.
- Filter unwanted comments: recent comments that may be offensive or spam are hidden.
- Filter keywords in comments > Filter specific keywords > Add keywords: comments with those words are hidden.
- Creator Care Mode: hides comments that are inappropriate, offensive or contain profanity, plus comments that were previously reported, deleted or disliked.
Choose who can comment, or turn comments off
- For all posts: Settings and privacy > Privacy > Comments > Allow comments from, then choose Everyone (public accounts), Followers (private accounts) or Friends (followers you follow back).
- Before posting: on the Post screen, tap More options … and turn Allow comments on or off.
- On an existing post: open it > More options … > Privacy settings (you may need to swipe) > Allow comments.
Our note: if there’s no way to comment on someone else’s post, they’ve probably turned comments off or limited who can comment.
If you’re under 18, TikTok says to review its privacy and safety settings for users under 18 for more on your comment settings.
Find or delete comments you’ve posted
Comment history: Settings and privacy > Activity center (scroll down) > Comment history. TikTok says video reply comments don’t appear there, and mentions and tags may not be clickable.
Delete a comment: tap it in your history to open the post, then press and hold the comment > Delete. TikTok says you can’t delete comments if the post is private or the Story has expired.
Your comment disappeared? TikTok says other users might delete comments you’ve posted on their posts.
Report a comment, or many at once
One comment (on a post or in a LIVE): press and hold it > Report, choose a reason (and subtopic if asked) > Submit.
In bulk on your own videos: in the comments, press and hold a comment > Manage multiple comments (or tap Filters), select up to 100 comments > More > Report comments > Report. From the same screen you can also block the accounts that wrote them (how).
AI comment insights (creators)
TikTok’s comment insights use AI to summarize and filter comments into topics. TikTok says it’s for users 18+, isn’t available everywhere, and has two settings that are on by default: Allow insights on my videos and Include my comments for insights. Turn them off at Profile > Menu ☰ > TikTok Studio > Settings.
Comments won’t load in a browser
On a computer, TikTok says to refresh the page and restart the browser. On a phone browser, also switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data and restart your phone. If it still doesn’t work, use Still have problem on TikTok’s help page.
How to know it worked
- Your comments post, and comments on your own videos show (or you know which filter is hiding them).
Still not working? Your next steps
- Send TikTok feedback with details and screenshots: tap Need more help? at the bottom of TikTok’s help page in the app. In a browser, click No under Was this helpful?, then Need more help?.
- Comments in a LIVE? See TikTok LIVE comments.
