Quick answer
Check Inbox > System notifications > Account updates for TikTok’s notice, and look at your account status. If a post was removed, the notice explains why and how to appeal. If a post is ineligible for the For You feed, turn on Analytics (Profile > ☰ > TikTok Studio > Get started within Analytics > Turn on), open the post’s Analytics, tap the notice and choose Appeal. TikTok says violations expire after 90 days, and that deleting a violating post doesn’t remove the violation. If your account is banned, TikTok says you’ll see a banner when you log in, and you can still log in to appeal and download your data.

Why this happens: the possible causes
What TikTok says leads to reviews, removals and bans.
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Under review | Trust and Safety is checking it |
| Ineligible for For You | Not shown in the For You feed |
| Content removed | A violation was found |
| Account status lower | Violations in the last 90 days |
| Ban banner at login | Account banned |
- A Community Guidelines violationCheck this first
TikTok says it uses automated and human reviews and notifies the account owner when it takes action.
- A post was reported or went viralCheck this first
TikTok says content may be reviewed when you upload it, if it gains popularity, or if it’s reported.
- Repeated violationsPossible
TikTok says repeated violations can reduce your account status, bring temporary feature restrictions, or lead to a permanent ban.
Try these 60-second checks first
- Open Inbox > System notifications > Account updates.
- Don’t delete the post to “clear” it: TikTok says that doesn’t remove the violation.
How to fix it, step by step
Work through these in order. They start with the quickest, safest checks and only move to steps that sign you out or remove data later.
Fix 1: Post ineligible for the For You feed? See why and appeal
TikTok says you can review the reason, give feedback and appeal if you think it made a mistake. You need analytics turned on to see the decision.
- Turn on analytics: tap Profile > the Menu ☰ button > TikTok Studio > Get started within Analytics > Turn on.
- Go to the post, then tap More insights at the bottom, or More options … on the side of the post > Analytics.
- Tap the notification for the ineligible post and review the feedback. You can say whether you understand why.
- To disagree, tap Appeal at the top.
TikTok says an ineligible post isn’t shown in the For You feed. If the appeal succeeds, it becomes eligible for recommendation again.
Did it work? If the appeal succeeds, TikTok says the post becomes eligible for the For You feed again.

Fix 2: Run TikTok’s Account check to see what’s restricted
TikTok’s Account check shows whether you’re restricted from logging in, posting, commenting, editing your profile or sending messages.
- Tap Profile > the Menu ☰ button > TikTok Studio.
- Under More tools, tap Account check.
- Or: Settings and privacy > Support > Safety Center > Account check.
TikTok says a checkmark means no issue; a warning sign means there’s an issue with that feature or post.
Did it work? You can see which features, if any, are restricted.

Fix 3: Find TikTok’s violation notices
TikTok says you’ll get a notification explaining why content was removed and how to appeal.
- In the TikTok app, tap Inbox.
- Tap System notifications.
- Tap Account updates (you may need to scroll across).
Did it work? You can see each notice and its appeal option.

Posts not getting views (or stuck at 0 views)?
TikTok says views can fluctuate, and points you to your analytics to understand how a post is doing. Things TikTok says to keep in mind:
- Analytics are only generated for videos posted after you turn analytics on (how).
- Analytics can take 1 to 2 days to update.
- Follower activity shows in your local time zone; other analytics are in UTC.
Our note: also check whether the post is under review or ineligible for the For You feed (see below), and that it’s set to public (check privacy). We can’t promise more views, and nobody can sell you a fix for the algorithm.
Video under review
TikTok says content under review is checked by its Trust and Safety team to decide whether it should be removed or made ineligible for the For You feed. This can happen when you upload, if the post gains popularity, or if it’s reported. If a violation is found, TikTok removes the content, tells you why, and gives you the chance to appeal.
Content removed, and how appeals work
- TikTok says you’ll get a notification explaining why the content was removed and how to appeal.
- Appeal from your inbox: Inbox > tap the notice that your content was removed > Submit an appeal, then follow the instructions.
- Appeal from the post: go to the removed post > Community Guidelines violation: See details > Submit an appeal.
- TikTok says if you delete content that’s under appeal, it may not be able to remove the violation from your record even if the appeal is approved, and the content won’t be restored.
- If your appeal is approved, TikTok says your content and account status are reinstated (unless you’ve already deleted them).
- Deleting violating content doesn’t remove the violation, and TikTok may still lower your account status or add restrictions.
- For some first violations, TikTok may offer optional in-app policy training. Completing it may lift eligible restrictions, but not for severe violations.
Account status and how long violations last
- TikTok says your account status reflects your violations over the last 90 days: Healthy, Fair, Severe or Banned. You can see it, and a record of violations, in account status.
- The impact depends on how serious the policy area is and where the violation happened, for example comments or direct messages.
- Repeated violations can lower your status step by step, bring temporary restrictions (for example on commenting), or lead to a permanent ban.
- TikTok says violations expire after 90 days and are no longer taken into account.
Permanent bans
TikTok says it may permanently ban accounts for reasons including:
- Not meeting the minimum age or other requirements in its Terms of Service.
- Deceptively impersonating another person or entity.
- A single severe violation, such as content involving child exploitation, threats or promotion of violence, non-consensual sexual content, human trafficking, or real-world torture.
- Creating or using another account to avoid a restriction or ban.
- Multiple violations of its policies, or of its Intellectual Property Policy.
- An account that exists only to break the rules.
To appeal a ban: TikTok says open the notification that your account has been banned, tap Appeal, and follow the instructions.
TikTok says you’ll see a banner when you try to log in if your account is banned. You can still log in to submit an appeal and download your data, but TikTok deletes personal data after a period of time under applicable laws and its data retention policy, after which the account is no longer available.
TikTok says you can have multiple accounts, but may restrict or ban them if you try to avoid a restriction or ban on another account, for example by creating a new account after a ban for a severe violation, or spreading violations across accounts, while that restriction or ban is active.
How to know it worked
- You’ve read TikTok’s notice, checked your account status, and appealed if you think TikTok got it wrong.
